SPIKE / WILLIAM PRATT!
[BASICS]
Name: Commonly known as Spike, but can be recognized by William the Bloody or William Pratt.
Age: 124 years old (not counting his human years) but if you do he would be 152. He was between 28-30 years old when he was sired.
Birthdate: His birthdate is unknown. It could be assumed he was born in the late 1800s. He was Sired by Drusilla in 1880.
Gender: Male
Species: Vampire
Abilities: Supernatural strength, speed, stamina, agility, and reflexes, acute sensory perception, rapid healing and immortality. In addition to possessing the common powers and weaknesses of vampires, Spike's age and experience makes him a highly effective, skilled, and versatile fighter in both armed and unarmed combat. For example, he is able to briefly overcome Illyria during a testing of her abilities prior to her powers being greatly reduced by Wesley. Illyria criticizes his (and others') ability to adapt, calling it "compromise." He is able to withstand excessive amounts of pain for extended periods of time, particularly when properly motivated. While not as skilled or as sadistic as Angelus, Spike also proves himself to be effective at torture, noting he had gained "screams, various fluids, and a name" from Doctor Sparrow. Much like Angel, he is highly proficient in various forms of martial arts, and his typical fighting style blends karate, kung fu, and others.
Spike often displays insight and skills in perception and observation, especially with regard to relationships and personalities, so long as the relationship in question doesn't concern him personally. This ability allows him to wield powerful psychological weapons as easily and effectively as physical ones. He at some point explains to Buffy that he was able to defeat two slayers by sensing and exploiting their secret desire to be free of their burden. Spike's skills of analysis show him and others about the truths in relationships and daily interactions. His analytical skills also have helped him in battle.
Spike is also seen speaking/understanding Latin, Luganda (a language of Uganda, where he meets the demon shaman), and the language of Fyarl Demons, two of whom he once employed as underlings during his pre-Sunnydale days. He is also shown to be capable of recognizing literature; in the last episode of season five, he paraphrases a line from the St. Crispin's Day Speech while in conversation with Giles after Buffy tells them her plan of attack on Glory.

Personality: Spike is seen as something of a paradox amongst vampires, and frequently challenges vampire conventions and limitations. As a soulless vampire, he exhibits quite a few human traits such as love, loyalty, and aesthetic appreciation. As an ensouled vampire, Spike's need for violence remains unapologetically intact. Spike's actions are motivated by love in all of its incarnations (love of objects, love of life, love of a specific person).
Spike is also rare among vampires because he does not fear Slayers; he seeks them out and has killed two by the time he arrives in Sunnydale. He is proud of this accomplishment despite the fact that his victories had more to do with the Slayers' state of mind then a special prowess on his part. But over time that had changed, because of his feeling for a certain Slayer.
Spike is intelligent, insightful and a skilled analyst. His sense of humor is dry and sarcastic, and he carries himself with swagger.
Spike has a habit of pithy remarks and glib insults. Among his favorite targets are Angel, Xander, Giles, and (to a lesser extent) Buffy, he mostly teases her to get a reaction and because of his feelings for her. Spike often nicknames people both as insults and as terms of endearment. At times he speaks poeticly, of course showing what remained from his human life.
Spike more often than not treats his vulnerability to the sun as simply an annoying inconvenience. He drives in broad daylight in vehicles with blacked-out windows, and on several occasions travels outside during the day using a blanket or his duster for cover. Indeed, he has a remarkably stronger resistance to sunlight than most all other vampires except Angel; their elevated ability to endure the sun should not be confused with total immunity, however, the sun is still harmful to them.
History: William Pratt was born circa 1850 to 1853 in London, England to Anne Pratt and an unidentified husband. In 1880, when William was about 27 to 30 years old, he was an ineffectual gentleman who lived with his mother and wrote poetry, enjoying a certain level of economic comfort. William struggled to make a place for himself in London's high society. He had gained the nickname 'William the Bllody' because his poetry was so 'bloody awful'. While he tried to move in the circles of High Society William found he didn't have much in common with his contemporaries who treated him poorly.
William fell in love with a woman of high society, Cecily Addams. He wanted to show her his love and wrote a poem for her, she turned him down saying he was beneath her. That struck him hard and he eneded up wandering the streets of London. He ended up rushing passed the vampire Trio that consisted of Darla, Angelus, and Drusilla. Drusilla was desiring a playmate and decided to follow William. William was found crying in an alley and Drusilla moved in seducing him with talk of something glowing, something effulgent and finally sired him. After Drusilla sired William she buried him and he crawled his way out of his grave. The pair partied for several days, both draining humans and drinking alcohol. They decided to go back to William's original residence where a live-in servant invited them in. William's devotion to his mother remained with him after his turning into a vampire. His mother was suffering from a disease, T.B. Not wanting to see his mother die, William sired her so she could join him and Drusilla. Unfortunately, his mother, as a vampire taunted William claiming that she truly despised him. She also claimed that her own son had a sexual fascination with her which was untrue. Being traumatized by the entire experience he ended up staking her not wanting to see her that way. After staking his mother, William began a new life with Drusilla. Finally feeling free he abandoned the hypocrisy of Victorian life and became a rebel adopting a working class Northern London accent and embracing impulsiveness and violence. He began calling himself 'Spike' due to his habit of torturing people with railroad spikes. He was also involved with some criminal activity. In the company of Drusilla, her sire Angelus and Angelus' sire Darla, Spike terrorized Europe and Asia for almost two decades. Utterly devoted to Drusilla, he had a strained relationship with Angelus, whose relationship with Spike is portrayed in turns as both that of father and rebellious son, and as vindictive and spiteful former lovers.
1898: Spike has a run in with Dracula, (takes place after Angel was given his soul) Darla runs into Dracula and is under his thrall. During this time Spike buys a copy of the book 'Dracula' for Drusilla. When he and his sire return to the townhouse that they are inhabiting they meet Dracula. Spike decided to let the Prince of Darkness have a piece of his mind considering the secrets about vampires was out due to the book. Dracula burns it, throwing it into the fireplace. A fight ensues and Spike is also thrown into the fire, but escapes out into the open. After Dracula takes Drusilla and Darla Spike follows them in the coach they are riding in. When Dracula least expected it Spike helped the girls escape and left a note stating that Dracula owed him elelven pounds.
1990: in Beijing, China, Spike killed a Slayer during the Boxer Rebellion. She gave him the scar on his left eyebrow, which which still remains. Shortly afterward, he and Drusilla lost touch with Darla and Angelus, and the couple wandered the world seeking amusement and mayhem, occasionally separating to pursue separate interests but always reuniting.
1943: Spike was captured and taken on a submarine with two other vampires. The three escaped and the vampires went on a killing spree but was stopped by none other than Angel before everyone was killed. Angel, who arrived with instructions to deliver the submarine and the records of the Nazi experimentation with vampires to the United States military. While the submarine was delivered thanks to the help of the newly sired Sam Lawson, Spike, who had burned up the notes from the experiments, was forced by Angel to leave the submarine and swim back to land.
1947: Spike worked as a bodyguard in L.A. He was framed for the Black Dahlia murders.
1959: Sent to jail for tax evasion by the Immortal
1969: Woodstock, where Spike intially fed off a flower child and watched his hand move for hours due to the drug in the person's system.
1977: Spike was in New York, he killed the Slayer Nikki Wood aboard a subway train, taking her leather duster as a trophy.
1997: Spike and Drusilla traveled to Prague where Drusilla was kidnapped and severly tortured. She fell 'ill' and Spike decided to head to Sunnydale a.k.a. the Hellmouth to find her a cure.
1998-2003: During this time Spike had come to Sunnydale to find a cure for Drusilla and kill the Slayer. He discovered the Angelus was in Sunnydale, he greeted him as a friend intially not realizing the vampire still had a soul.
Spike ended up killing the Annointed One and took control of what was left of the Order of Aurelius planning to make things a little less ritual and a little more fun. Spike learned that Angelus' blood could cure Drusilla and was more than willing to kill his grandsire in order to bring his dark princess back to full health, but Buffy had put an end to it before the ritual was finished, but Drusilla was restored to health. Spike was injured during that fight in the church and was subjected to a wheelchair. It so happened that Angelus returned to him and Drusilla souless soon after and took over what Spike was running. Though Angelus planned to destroy the world. The one Spike was so happy with due to the Happy Meals with legs. So Buffy and Spike aalied themselves to bring down Angelus.
Spike had fled to Brazil with Dru after the fight ended but in Brazil Dru made him suffer saying he was surrounded by the sun. She had been caught with various amounts of demons and Spike finally had enough and went back to Sunnydale to look for a spell to bring his vampiress back to his arms. In the process he ended up kidnapping Xander and Willow. Willow was his way of performing the spell. He soon decided to forget the love spell idea.
Spike later returns to Sunnydale without Drusilla to search for a myth, the Gem of Amara. Upon finding it he goes to confront Buffy and fights with her in broad daylight. After losing the Gem to the Slayer he goes to L.A. to retrieve it. He is double crossed by a vampire he hired once he retrives the ring and is driven out of the city without the ring. Again he returns to Sunnydale and becomes involved with a vampiress named Harmony Kendall. During this time Spike is captured by The Initative and a chip is placed in his head. The chip prevented him from hunting and killing humans. He goes to the Scoobies for help and protection from the soldiers. Willow accidentally goofs up a spell and Spike and Buffy end up being engaged and in love. Once the spell is broken he goes back to his annoy ways and finds out he can fight demons. He eventually tries to help Adam because of a deal they made to get the chip removed. In the end he ends up helping the Scoobies.
Being different from other vampires, Spike is loyal and can love like a human normally would. This being said, he fell in love with Buffy not realizing it until he has a dream about them together. He ends up trying what he can to help Buffy and the Scoobies out with their latest big bad, Glory. He grows close with Dawn (Buffy's younger sister and the key.)He even takes a beating from Glory herself to make sure the girl is safe. At the final battle Spike get thrown from the tower and witnesses the Slayer sacrifice herself so her sister can live and it breaks his heart.
Spike, who is still in Sunnydale looking after Dawn returns from trying to find the girl and finds that Buffy is back. He finds out that the Slayer was pulled back by magic. Days after he learned that the girl had in fact been pulled from Heaven and that makes him try his best to comfort her. It becomes apparent that during this time Buffy and Spike have a relationship, physical mainly. Later He and Buffy end up in a complicated situation in her bathroom where he tried to rape her and that in itself spurred him to go in search of a legend, making him leave Sunnydale for Africa.
When the newly ensouled Spike returns he ends up living in the basement of the newly built Sunnydale highschool appearing to be out of his mind. During this time he is being mentally tormented by the newest Big Bad, The First. He and Buffy and the Scoobies end up banding together to work against this evil. Though he is not fully trusted by the Scoobies and Giles. Buffy though grows close to him and their relationship becomes something tender and filled with love. Something they didn't experience before. He helps Buffy train the Potential Slayers and with the final battle when he intially dies from the amulet given to Buffy from Angel, but not before hearing the Buffy loves him.
19 days after the battle in the Hellmouth, Spike has returned but as a ghost via the amulet that was sent to Angel. He is confined to Wolfram and Hart and to Angel so he decides to bug his grandsire as much as possible until they can figure out a way to make him corporeal again. He becomes friends with Angel's team and helps them fight the good fight. Spike, being corporeal again makes the decision to stay permenantly because it's what Fred would have wanted. Observing the God-King Illyria he learns what she is and forms a friendship of sorts with the Old One. Angel and his gang end up making a decision to take on the Senior Parnters of Wolfram and Hart and Spike was one of the first to agree that it was what they should do.

The ache in his chest was beginning to bother him it was like someone grabbed his heart and was squeezing. He was sure if it persisted he would be just another ponce wallowing in self pity and love. But he was after all love's bitch, Spike himself had stated that proudly once. He was sure if he was so proud of it now though, because once again his head was filled with the memories of him and a certain Slayer. THE Slayer, Buffy Summers. Her golden hair and those lips. Her eyes that expressed so much, it all floated around in his head. He missed her. He missed everyone, he had for a while now.
"Bollocks." He mumbled to himself as he shifted uncomfortably in the chair he was currently inhabiting as he ran a hand through his hair messing it up and allowing a curl or two to show. As if his mind was being read an eerily cool and collected voice of a woman sounded not far behind him.
"I find you saying this more often than not. I do not see any injuries on you for this reaction." Illyria stated as she occupied the corner of the room. They were currently sitting at the Hyperion hotel. It had been Spike's decision to come here and be of use. Some time ago Spike had decided to fight the good fight and stay with Angel and his gang for Fred because it was what she would have wanted. Fred was a good friend, she saw the good in him and believe he was worth helping.
Glaring at the Old One, Spike huffed almost child like, "Sod off. 'M having a personal moment." His cockney accent dripped from his words. Resting his elbows on the arms of the chair Spike closed his eyes trying to sort through the onslaught of thoughts. So much had happened in the past year and he was sure if wasn't just him that had gone through a lot. The Scoobies and Buffy herself must have had one hell of a time too. "I can hear you over there, pet. Now if you don't mind, get out." He snapped as his ears picked up the sound of Illyria's foot falls.
"What is it that causes this emotion? Anger..." She said as she came to stand by Spike's side. Her cold blue eyes fell on his bleached head. Spike shifted and moved to push himself off the chair and toward the door of the room he was given. Grasping his duster on the way to the door, he turned to look over at Illyria.
"That's none of your soddin business Blue. Why not ask Forehead what he's brooding about today? That should peek your interest nicely." He said sarcasistically as he turned back around gripping the handle to the door and yanked it open. Slamming the door behind him Spike sighed. He was becoming just like Angel with this brooding. 'No 'm nothing like him. Completely different. 'M hell of alot more interesting.' He thought as he made his way down the hall slipping on his duster. Tonight he wanted to get his mind off the past. He needed a distraction, he needed a bit of violence - the good kind of course.
